Recruitment policy
We aim to train all our qualified and senior staff. Annually we have vacancies for up to three entrants to train as Chartered Accountants under either three or four year training contracts. Entrants are usually graduates or those who have qualified as Accounting Technicians. We also train for the other accountancy qualifications, e.g. Certified Accountants and, in particular, for the Association of Accounting Technicians. We annually have vacancies for applicants under these training schemes.
Qualifications
We set a high standard of entry qualifications at all grades since we wish, and expect, all trainees to pass professional examinations and qualify. The grade of entry qualifications will depend on the requirements of the professional body. In the case of graduate entrants we expect an anticipated Honours Degree of not less than 2i. We are open as to the degree discipline as we look to a good general education. We expect applicants to have good all round results at GCSE level. Where appropriate, we believe applicants should have achieved a minimum of 18 UCAS points at one 'A' level sitting.
Training policy
Maximum assistance is given to all trainees to achieve their professional qualifications. Tuition and examination costs are fully supported by the firm for at least the first attempt at each examination. We operate three principal methods of training students - the formal examination training, training by experience and in-house lectures and seminars. The formal examination training is undertaken by an outside specialist agency and offers every chance of success. We use one of the leading national firms with a training centre in Leeds. Use is made of external courses where appropriate, and students are encouraged to make use of these as part of their professional education after qualification. We operate a series of seminars and discussion groups with speakers drawn from within the firm to cover both topical and technical subjects. With the range of our client base, both by scale and by industry, we can offer an exceptionally wide range of practical experience.
Counselling
As well as having assistance from the Partner responsible for training, students have a second partner to help as counsellor. In this way if any difficulties arise there is opportunity to discuss and resolve.
Accreditation
The office is a fully accredited Training Office by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
Salary levels
We offer competitive starting salaries. These are reviewed on a regular basis. Increases are based on experience and progress within the firm. Significant awards are made following success at each examination. The salary structure is designed to reward and encourage.
Training costs
All tuition and examination costs are paid by us, for at least the first attempt at each examination. Should further attempts be necessary we look at each case on its merits.
Study leave
Paid study leave is made available for the first attempt at each examination. Details are reviewed on an individual basis as well as arrangements for future examinations. We hope that these notes explain the background and opportunities for students. If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact the Recruitment Partner. Our aim is to recruit trainees of calibre and give every encouragement to qualify, coupled with a wide ranging practical experience. After qualification we are able to offer a future career with an independent and progressive practice, putting both the qualification and practical experience to rewarding use.
